Formativ Framework for .NET 1.0.1 released.

Note: The Formativ Framework for .NET 1.0 is not required for Formativ Runtime, Creator or Studio 2.0 operation. Certain Advansys solutions require it, such as the Message Saver Pack 2.0 and by default it will be installed automatically.

Includes minor enhancements, fixes and performance optimization. Details in the readme.rtf installed by the Formativ Framework for .NET.

Status: Recommended Update.

  • Some clients experienced an access violation shutting down GroupWise after running one or more applets. This error was traced back to the installed script host debugger. This version resolves this issue by not instantiating any installed debugger.
  • Resolves a problem where some advanced GroupWise integrations may not be registered (i.e. message attachment browser context menus).

Formativ Enterprise Solution Updates for GroupWise 2018.

GroupWise 2018 introduced a critical default return data format change in the GroupWise Admin REST API, upon which Enterprise Proxy and Calendar Dates functionality rely. The code updates listed below enable the Formativ Enterprise solutions to function with the GroupWise 2018 REST API change.

  • Enterprise Proxy 1.2.7 & Enterprise Calendar dates 1.2.7 installers include updated Advansys REST COM components which correct the problem where you cannot select the Domain or PO nodes for processing (system and user nodes worked correctly).  If you are upgrading from version 1.2.6, the first time you use 1.2.7, use the Refresh Cache option to force the solution to re-read all the GroupWise system objects.  The Refresh Cache option can be used at any time, although on large systems it can take a minute to rebuild the cache.

Formativ Solution Updates.

  • Enterprise Proxy 1.2.6 & Enterprise Calendar dates 1.2.6 installers include updated Advansys REST COM components which remove the 1000 user limit per Post Office when refreshing the System View cache.  The System View displays a tree view of the GroupWise system, allowing the administrator to select user objects for the intended operation.  For performance reasons, the when they run the first time, the Enterprise solutions cache system objects, making startup faster the next time the solution is used.  If you are upgrading from version 1.2.5, the first time you use 1.2.6, use the Refresh Cache option to force the solution to re-read all the GroupWise system objects.  The Refresh Cache option can be used at any time, although on large systems it can take a minute to rebuild the cache.

  • Personal Outlook Migration Pack 2.0.13
    • CMail.ProcessRecipients() method updated. One of our customers reported to us that when importing the Outlook sent messages folder, the To field is set to the fully qualified name, particularly for internal contacts. Updated code check ‘@’ character, if not exists and sent items folder then use Recipient.Name property. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/aa211006%28v=office.11%29.aspx.
    • Added an end date for importing all items. Without an explicit end date defined when the Outlook calendar has recurring appointments with no end date, the Outlook API will keep creating appointments into the future (even 20/30 yrs from current date).
    • To prevent the Outlook security dialog becoming the foreground window, set the focus to the status dialog for every 300 messages processed.  Previously this was set to every 10 messages, which made it difficult to use the machine while the conversion is processing. This setting is defined by the IDS_SET_STATUS_FOCUS_MSG constant and can be configured by the user (requires applet to be edited).
    • Added the IDS_INCLUDE_RECURRENCE_APPT constant, which by default is set to TRUE. If set to FALSE then recurring appointments will not be imported into GroupWise.
    • Debug information updated. The applet will output debug information when the SHIFT key is held down while starting the applet.  After starting in debug mode, the applet’s window caption will include “(Debug mode)”. Initiate the conversion process. At completion the log file will include detailed information. The log file will be stored in:
      • Folder: C:\Users\USER-NAME\AppData\Local\Advansys\Formativ\1.0\Data\Personal-Outlook-Migration
      • File name: ADV_POM_2014-2-6-11-56-50.log (example)
    • Note: In debug mode, log file will be saved after every 10 items processed. You can change the setting by updating the IDS_DEBUG_LOG_SAVE_COUNTER constant.

The Default charset from regional settings button lets you obtain the default character set from the current Windows regional language settings.
    • You can specify ‘MIME Encoding’ in the GroupWise message (Send Options – MIME Encoding) or use the settings option within the Stationery solution (click the Settings… option from the Main form).   • Personalized Emailer Pack 2.0
    • Version 2.0.25 of the Personalized Emailer solution.
    • New feature: Advanced Send Options. Optionally specify the date and time that personalized messages should be sent, the number of messages that should be sent in a batch and the number of minutes to wait between batches. These settings are used to send messages at a time when fewer users are on the system, thus reducing network load during peak times.
    • New feature: Delete Sent Items Option. When using delayed delivery, initiates a manual delete option for personalized messages in the Sent Items folder.
    • Bug Fix: It is no longer possible to press the ‘Next’ button on the database data source dialog until the specified SQL has been processed.
    • Bug Fix: Draft messages with large attachments no longer cause an error when used as personalized email master messages.
    • Other minor bug fixes.

    • The format of the Users File has changed. Entries in a users file must now conform to the following standard:
      <UserID>,<Post Office Name>,<Domain Name>
      i.e. JJONES,DEVPO,DEVDOMAIN.
    • Important Migration Information: The naming convention used to name shadow data has changed in this release. This change was bought about by the new object identification system introduced in this version. If you used an earlier version of Enterprise Calendar dates, your existing shadow data will be backed up and a new set created. This means the first synchronization will be much slower than normal, as shadow data using the new naming convention is created. This migration process takes place once only.

    • Some GroupWise systems contain objects that do not have associated object ID values. Novell reports missing object ID values may be caused by synchronization problems. If Enterprise Proxy encountered user objects not possessing an ID, it would not be able to log into the account or proxy rights assigned in single user mode may not be applied. This update employs a technique that does not rely on the presence of object ID values.
    • The format of the Users File has changed. Entries in a users file must now conform to the following standard:
      <UserID>,<Post Office Name>,<Domain Name>
      i.e. JJONES,DEVPO,DEVDOMAIN.
    • A new tab, ‘Post Office Settings’ has been added to the System properties dialog. This tab lets you specify Post Office connections settings for all Post Offices in the system from a single location.
    • Resource objects now appear in the Proxy Rights Report.

  • Personalized Emailer Pack 2.0
    • Version 2.0.19 of the Personalized Emailer solution.
    • Fixed a bug that would prevent customized plain text versions of messages from being used.
    • Includes updated Remote Image Inserter (see below).
  • Presentation Pack 2.0
    • Includes updated Remote Image Inserter and Stationery 2.0 (see below).
  • Remote Image Inserter 2.0
    • Version 2.0.3 includes the new enhancements below.
    • You may now insert an image using an inline table as the enclosing element. This makes it possible to insert images immediately next to each other in a message. The table option is also the default enclosing element type.
    • Images are now automatically refreshed when selected from the image combo box control.
  • Stationery 2.0
    • Version 2.0.17 released.
    • Fixed a bug that could cause newly create stationery to be saved as Unicode (GroupWise is unable to accept native Unicode stationery data).
