…the Formativ control Panel app shows an “x” as the first choice for items to be enabled or disabled. Uninstalling does not remove the Control Panel app, so this defect does not go away. any ideas?
We have confirmed that there is a bug in Formativ Express 1.6 beta which causes the ‘x’ to appear in the Formativ Control Panel Applet. Fortunately this is a benign problem which indicates the name resource is not correct for the control label. This will be fixed in the next update.
After uninstallation, the control panel applet probably won’t disappear until you have done a reboot because Windows has the file locked.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We believe there is an environmental issue which influences the appearance of this problem. Unfortunately, we cannot yet reproduce this behavior in-house.
To help troubleshoot the problem, we have included additional log trace entries to help pinpoint the location where the process is failing. You can now download an updated version of the solution from the Formativ Download page.
It would be most appreciated if you could retest your environment with the SHIFT key option and either post the results to the forum or send them to support@advansyscorp.com.
Once we gather sufficient information to isolate the cause we should be able to address the problem quickly.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Thanks for the feedback, which we will investigate. If you install Formativ Runtime, does the ‘x’ problem in the Control Panel go away? The migration solution can also be executed using Formativ Runtime.
If you press and hold the SHIFT key when you initiate the migration solution, it should provide a more detailed log of the startup sequence. The log is saved in the default Formativ Data folder, which can be determined by looking at the configuration information, in the GroupWise Help | About Formativ dialog.
Are you running GroupWise in online, caching or remote mode?
Are you trying to migrate from a PST file or live from an Exchange account?
What MAPI mail services and profiles do you have configured?
We will continue to research why these issues can occur.

The current Personalized Mass Email solution is not currently designed to work when proxying to another user.
It may be possible technically to achieve this outcome, although full proxy rights to any alternate account would be required.
I will pass your feedback onto the Formativ engineering team for consideration in the next features review.

Thanks for the feedback, which is good news. We agree about the current limitations of the Multiple Signatures applet. Expect to see significant enhancements to many of the Business Solutions Pack applets in the future.
One catalyst enabling these future improvements will be the new capabilities in the Formativ 1.7 development product and runtime engine. If you are interested in reviewing the private early preview beta of the new release, please send an email to sales@advansyscorp.com.

Have you checked the Recyled Bin on the machine on which you deleted the applet?
If you right mouse click on an applet library in FormativCentral, you can do a backup of a library. I know this is too late if you have not done this already.
Otherwise, you would need to restore (to another system preferably) the contents of the eDirectory object….

Under normal circumstances, we know of no reason why your C3PO button integration would not display along with Formativ. We too have written other C3POs and they coexist with Formativ without a problem. So we need to identify what is specific to your C3PO and/or environment.
To assist us troubleshoot the problem, for
a) with the C3PO installed; and
b) without the C3PO installed, please send us the Formativ configuration information by selecting the GroupWise client’s Help menu, select About Formativ, select the Configuration tab and use the Copy to Clipboard button, then paste the config info into an email to us at support@advansyscorp.com.
I addition, if you want us to test your C3PO in our environment, please send that to us as well.

Unfortunately, after reviewing the GroupWise Token APIs, it does not appear possible to identify the current signature preferences. The preferences appear to be stored in the account, which makes sense, but means you cannot use a work-around like reading the Windows registry.
You can use the Token API command PrefSignature to set the signature options. The following is taken from the Formativ Language Guide.
quote:
PrefSignature Method
Description
Sets the signature that is appended to every message sent. Version: GroupWise 5.x and later.Syntax
GroupWise.PrefSignature(SigOptions eInclude, AddSignature Boolean, AddVCard Boolean, SignatureText String)Parameter Useage:
SigOptions eInclude
Specifies the signature include option.Value Description
incNo
incYes
incPromptAddSignature Boolean
AddVCard Boolean
SignatureText String
Return notification options.Remarks
Only available in GroupWise 5.5 and later.
What do you wish to achieve?

We appreciate your requirement for enhancing the Personalized Mass Email solution. In fact, we have plans to introduce this type of functionality in a future release, although a specific availability timeframe has not be set.
In the interim, should you need to develop a custom solution, we do offer the full source code for the Formativ Business Solutions Pack applets at a reasonable price. For further details, please contact sales@advansyscorp.com.

Yes, that is correct. The solution recreates the received message without attachments and then deletes the original (puts it into trash).

Thanks very much for your feedback and suggestions, which we will submit to the engineering team for the next solutions review.

Do you mean tabbed notebook style form control? If so, no, not in Formativ 1.6.
Formativ 1.7 will include a fully featured VB/Delphi style visual dynamic forms designer, with object inspector, which will enable the development of event driven forms within Formativ applets. A comprehensive palette of standard and enhanced Windows and Novell controls will be available for use, including tab controls.
Formativ 1.7 is currently in private preview beta. Should you wish to be considered for access to this early release, please send an email to formativ@advansyscorp.com, quoting this invitation to participate, your name, organization and contact details.
If I have misunderstood what you mean by ‘tabs’, please set me straight.

We have been looking into this issue. We have found one of our Windows 98 machines which still exhibits the problem and, at this stage, we don’t know why the problem ‘disappeared’ on a number of machines which exhibited the problem during GW 6.5 beta testing.
What we have found is that the problem appears to be related to the number of applets (with toolbar icons) and the GroupWise main toolbar settings. In our Win 98 machine with the problem, we can get it to ‘go away’ if the toolbar settings are set to:
- Picture and selected text on the right; or
- Picture only + Single row of buttons only.
The problem appears when we have Picture only + Multiple rows of buttons, if necessary.
To see or change your custom toolbar settings, right-mouse click the main toolbar and select customize toolbar.
We still don’t know why this problem only occurs under certain conditions. As it can be ‘avoided’ by changing the toolbar settings, it would appear to be a GW client problem. We suspect the same issue would occur if a standard C3PO included many icons on the main toolbar. Before we report the issue to Novell, we need to track it down and ensure it can be reproduced in a repeatable way.
For readers who have experienced this problem, please let us know if changing your main toolbar custom settings avoids the ‘incorrect GroupWise main dialog height’ problem.
