I am suddenly unable to launch A2G. As A2G tries to initialize, I get a lengthy error screen which starts with:

“There is an error in XML document (0,0).

This problem is machine specific. uninstallation and reinstallation of A2G made no difference.

I’ve got .NET Framework 1.1, .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366), and .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 on this PC.

      Any clues???

      Thx

These errors appear to be rather unusual, may be the application configuration files is corrupted. Are you using Enterprise or Local modes? Which version of GroupWise Client are you using? Did Archive To Go work correctly on the same workstation and GroupWise account?

I would recommend the following initial steps. Please note that you will need to reconfigure your system for Enterprise mode or use Local mode.

        – Rename the folder: “C:Documents and Settings[Windows Username]Application DataAdvansysArchive To Go” to something else, like “C:Documents and SettingsBill SmithApplication DataAdvansysArchive To Go.bak”. This folder contains the configuration files for Archive To Go and to preserve your settings.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how you go.

          Thanks for reporting this problem.

I think one or more XML files used by A2Go have become corrupted, perhaps because of a forced reset of the machine. Which files are affected depends on the A2Go module that displays the error: Creator, Indexer or Viewer. Please send the appropriate files, as indicated below, to support@advansyscorp.com.

          Creator

          • a2goengine.exe.config in the installation folder (usually C:Program FilesAdvansysArchive To Go).
          • The following files in C:Documents and Settings[/i][Windows User Name][/i]Application DataAdvansysArchive To Go:
            settings.xml
            systems.xml

          Indexer or Viewer

The _metadata folder (zipped) within the archive. The exported metadata contains only Sender, Recipients, Subject and Date for each message; it contains only Display Name and Email Address for each contact.

I look forward to your reply.

            THAT DID IT!

So often in my job (Desktop Support)I fix wacky problems by “blowing away someone’s profile”. Now I guess it was my turn.

            Thanks!!
