I have run up several Terminal servers in 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 (64). I have Groupwise 8.02 and the current Novell Clients.
      My Formative runtime is 2.0.2.
When any applet opens a form I get a grpwise.exe error – Access Violation at etc.
I initially though it was rights but these errors occur on the Administrator login too.
I have installed the clients on non TS 2003 servers and received the same errors. Some controls within the forms will general more errors such as tcombo list.
I am only talking about designer forms. I you create dynamic forms inside your applet they seem to run ok.

        Thanks for reporting these errors.

Are all the machines where you have installed Formativ 64-bit machines?

Could you list the operating systems installed on these machines, please? Are these 64-bit machines?

Please note that Formativ does not officially support Windows Terminal Services. A number of our customers are using Formativ successfully on Terminal Services. I have not seen feedback on customers’ experience with 64-bit machines.

My 2008 R2 machines are 64 but all my 2003 servers (TS and Normal) are 32 bit.

          Thanks

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately I’m not sure what causes these errors.

Do you see the same errors on a machine where Windows XP is installed?

Do you see the same errors on a machine where Windows Vista or Windows 7 is installed?

Are the applets involved custom applets that were developed by your organization? If so, which operating system/s were the affected forms developed on? If any applet was developed on different machines (with different operating systems – XP/Vista/7/2003/2008), please list the operating systems involved.

I look forward to your reply.

This happens on both custom apps and off the shelf apps such as emoticons or stationary.
I created an app that opened an empty form (from the designer) and receive the error.

The normal user environment is XP Pro SP3.
This problem has never appeared in the XP workstations.
We don’t have Vista or Win 7.

Thank you for the additional information.

Please send the Formativ configuration from an affected workstation to support@advansyscorp.com. You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into your email (or save it to a plain-text file and include it as an attachment).

                  I believe I have a resolution.
The servers all had GW7 clients installed.
The GW8 installer doesn’t always upgrade/remove the existing 7 client.
Net result: you can see 2 gw clients in the installed list. I had uninstalled the older client and even repair/re-installed the 8 client but it hadn’t helped.
DEP had registered the old GW 7 client as “Groupwise client”.
When the 8 Client installed the DEP registration didn’t refer to it. So it looked like it was OK but it wasn’t. I removed the DEP registration and manually did one for the gw8 client and all is working now.
                  Thanks

That’s great news – thanks for letting us know.

By the way, just so we’re clear on this: what is ‘DEP’?

                      Its Data Execution Prevention.
In the servers its on by default I think.
Never been an issue on the XP’s

                      Thanks
