All seems fine until the the last step when it askes for a logon to Exchange to access the address book ???

You may need to check your MAPI configuration for the default address book provider. It appears that the GroupWise APIs are using the base Windows MAPI configuration, which appears to indicate that GroupWise thinks MS Exchange is the default address book provider.
