I have one user who can go through the whole process of creating a personalised email but it fails at the final hurdle when she tries to send. She gets an error stating flexalock.vbl was unable to process code at line 56 (or something) could not find file mime.822 in the users profile – I checked and the file is not there. I tried installing on a different PC – it worked for me but not for the user?

It could be an environmental issue, which version of the GroupWise client she is running (see Help – About GroupWise)? Are the both machine running the same GroupWise version? We recommend to upgrade the GroupWise client to the latest point release.
Could you please let us know the exact error message and the line number.

Advansys SupportAugust 6, 2008 at 2:14 am #6239Thanks for the response.
The client is 7.0.2HP, server is on 7.0.3 so I’ll try updating the client but I’m not sure that will resolve it, if I log into groupwise on the same PC (same local user account) it works and I’ve tried 2 PC’s with the same result. There are actually 3 error messages that pop up all generated in Personalized Emailer_Flexalock.vbf:
1st error:
CMimeObjectExtractor.DoSanityChecks
C:Documents and settingsDefaultMy DocumentsAdvansysPersonalized Emailer_Flexalock.vbf
Cannot find file
C:Documents and settingsDefaultLocal SettingsTempadvfmtmpMime.822 at line 9394, column 7Clickin OK to the error produces more error boxes which are the same as above except for the last line:
2nd error:
C:Documents and settingsDefaultLocal SettingsTempadvfmtmpMim.822 at line 1276, column 5
3rd error:
C:Documents and settingsDefaultLocal SettingsTempadvfmtmpMim.822 at line 464, column 11I checked for the existence of the mime.822 file in the location stated but it is not being generated.

Advansys supportMay 1, 2009 at 9:38 am #6248I am getting this error with a newly downloaded 2.0 version of Personalized Emailer Pack. Why is the 2.0.30 version not available on the website to download when this is a known issue?
The emailer also seems to be causing some other issues with emails at the recipients end. Some systems are displaying several lines of gibberish at the end of the emails sent using the emailer, some systems are also either blanking the “To:” field in the recipients box or changing it to “undisclosed-recipients”
May 4, 2009 at 12:29 am #6246Sorry for the delay.
Updated version (2.0.30) is available from the download (http://advansyscorp.com/formativ_download.htm) page. We recommend to uninstall the previous version (Control Panel – Add or Remove Program) before installing this update.
Hope this helps. Please let us know how you go.

Advansys SupportMay 5, 2009 at 10:06 am #6241OK, that seems to have fixed two of the issues: the original one and also the one where non-groupwise clients were not getting the recipient address.
There is still the issue of a non-groupwise client displaying a bunch of gibberish at the bottom of the email, I am assuming that these clients are trying to display the mime file created by the emailer. Is there a way to keep this from happening?
May 5, 2009 at 5:04 pm #6251We haven’t had any report about garbage at the bottom the email in some non GroupWise client. The behaviour could be relate to how the client process email and mime file. Mime.822 file is required for the personalized emailer system.
– Which client causing these behaviour? Can you reproduce the behaviour in different non GroupWise client (i.e Gmail, hotmail, etc)?
– Which version of GroupWise client you are running (See Help – About GroupWise)?. The behaviour could be relate to the version of GroupWise client you are running and you may need to upgrade the GroupWise client to latest point release.

Advansys SupportMay 6, 2009 at 8:03 am #6240We have tested in Outlook, Outlook Express, Hotmail and Yahoo mail. All of these show the gibberish. We are using Groupwise 7.03 client and server.
Here is an example of what we get at the bottom of these emails:
! DAE8bڞɢȨ)ܖbɫmifz{l^^z觵yr*bz{ljw{Z{“+bw`Q +r’^Zfmkzjwwu퉩H|rzz-קukyȩʋ^b~’aj֧جrZ, k{bbnbz+ǁFڟ*+bw(֢bڶ֜mbm+,keʚ&H*.ޭakj{&”xz讙^jǧ؟^zzfhץzh覙bjץɩu^az)ږڞɢȨtI have no doubt that this is likely the Mime.822 file, however I believe that there is something in the emailer that is causing these other clients to attempt to display the contents of the file
May 6, 2009 at 5:06 pm #6243Our engineers tested the solution to send email to Gmail, Hotmail, etc and unable to reproduce the behaviour. Could you please send the template message used in Personalized Emailer as an attachment to Support (support@advansyscorp.com) for debug.
Could you also send the Formativ Configuration, you can obtain the configuration by selecting Help | About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard. Then paste the text into your reply email (or save it to a plain-text file and include it as an attachment).

May 17, 2009 at 7:54 pm #6242This issue has been resolved. For future reference, please see below the fix.
quote:
OK, we finally isolated the issue. We have a Guenevere (discontinued) email scanning tool that all emails go through when leaving the company, it checks for certain file types in attachments that are disallowed, etc. The other thing it does is appends a disclaimer that “this communication is intended for the use of….yada, yada, yada” This disclaimer is what is being garbled.
The file that the disclaimer is saved as is a text file on the Guenevere server and the server adds the text to the end of all outgoing emails. We have a workaround that lets us NOT add the disclaimer to the end of specified emails, but I wanted to let you know that this is the issue, in case you either have someone with a similar issue in the future, or possibly have had an issue with Guenevere in the past.
Thank you for your time,
