      Hi,

I’ve just installed Message Viewer 2.0.2.0 and when I start it an Error Report dialog pops up. The error signature is:
      AppName: messageviewer.exe
      AppVer 2.0.2.0
      ModName: kernel32.dll
      ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119
      Offset: 00012a5b
(which I guess just means XP sp2)

Clicking on Send or Don’t Send brings up MessageViewer, but with no folders in the top left hand side. When I exit, I get ‘Exception ERangeError in modules MessageViewer.exe at 001A0F8D. Range Check Error’

If I double-click on a .fml message, it opens. When I search from the message and double click on one of the results, I get another Range Check Error. Clicking OK gives me another four or five and the message opens, but with ‘Navigation to the webpage was cancelled’ in the body section. (although that only seems to happen when there is a TEXT.htm attachment)

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but with no improvement. I also tried installing the Formativ .net libraries and that didn’t help either.

How can I help you help me?

      Thanks,
      Tim

        Dear Tim,

Thanks for your beautifully-written problem report.

We thought the error you describe was fixed in version 2.0.1; perhaps this is a similar (but different) problem. We think it occurs on a machine that has been running for several days; this is usually a server. As you have noted, it only occurs when viewing a message with HTML format available.

The only known workaround is to restart the machine. However the error may recur if the machine has been running nonstop for 30 days or more (sometimes less).

Alternatively, we can make a special build of the Viewer available to you. The build would be capable of identifying what the Viewer is attempting to do when the error occurs. This information would be very helpful to us in understanding how to fix the problem. Please let me know if you are interested.

        Kind regards,
        Advansys Support
