Personalized mass mails in German

We would like to use the personalized mass mail function for our newsletters but the problem here is that in German language you have to distinguish between male and female. In the English template you only put Dear and then the Display Name, but in German you put Sehr geehrte Frau if it’s female and Sehr geehrter Herr for male, is there already a solution to it. I know from other products which use a checkbox for male/female and according to this checkbox the Greeting will be.

Thank you for your question below. The GroupWise address book does not provide an inherent field to indicate if the contact is male or female. As a result, we have no way of knowing how to modify an address based on gender.

There are a number of ways you could get around this. Perhaps the most straight forward would to insert the gender specific text in the ‘Greeting’ field of the address book for each contact, then use that field in your template instead of the display name.

Wir haben das Problem wie folgt gelöst:

Es gibt die Lösung, dass man Adressbuchdaten in Excel importiert und exportiert. Wir haben das so gelöst: Alles nach excel exportiert, dann dort im Titl Sehr geehrte/r Herr / Frau DR. was auchimmer und dann einfach [[Title]][[Lastname]] oder alternatif [[Displayname]]. Eine weitere möglichkeit wäre etwa das Applet so abzuändern, dass es automatisch Sehr geehrte/r schreibt wenn bei Titel Herr bzw Frau steht, … für weniger Programmierfreudige ist aber auch noch möglich Sehr geehrte bei Kommentar einzufügen. Warum in excel? Ganz einfach, dort sortiere ich nach Vornamen und kopiere ganz einfach die Felder … dann wird das ganze wieder importiert und fertig, los kann es gehen. Wir haben auf diese Art und weise für etwa 600 Adressen 40 min gebraucht … ich denke das ist akzeptabel.

For the english community:
I exported the adress book into excel, then i modified (easy to sort und copy fields) and importet again. I modified 600 adresses in about 40 minutes, that’s okay.
