A2G will search the entire archive, which is nice. The results list multiple emails, but does not specify which folder the item resides in. Is there a way to make the product search individual folders? Or, is there a setting that will show the location of the search results?

      Thank you!

        Hi EsRichie,

Thanks for your message. In the Archive To Go search results screen, you should see a column marked “Folder” which identifies the item’s folder. Do you not see that column?

The columns available in the search results view are:

        Subject
        From
        Date
        Folder
        Relevance
        Attachment
        Source

The search results can be sorted by clicking on a column’s title.

With respect to selective search capabilities, yes, you can filter by folder name. To do this you use the Advanced Search techniques as outlined in the Archive To Go Viewer manual, which also lists the advanced query fields available, including “folder”.

To search for the word “test” in the folder “Old Sent Items” you would enter the following search query:

        test AND folder:”Old Sent Items”

This will list all items with the word “test” in the “Old Sent Items” folder.

I hope the information above is of assistance.

        Kind Regards,

          Support,

My issue is that I have several sub folders with the same folder name. When the search result loads, I see many items with the same folder name, but only the folder name… not the tree, path, or parent folder it resides in. Any way to get that level of detail in the search result?

Thank you for your very quick response. Truly appreciated!

Unfortunately the full path is not accessible via the search results. There is a way to check, which is outlined below. Although it’s cumbersome, it may be of some use to you.

            • In the search results, open the message of interest.
            • Switch to the Properties tab in the message view.
            • Find the message file path, which will look like: N:engSupport Archivemedia-01data000001d739F59406.GWHQ.MOSMAN.100.0.1.E64A6FE8.1.fml.
            • Copy the Archive To Go archive folder location name for this message, in the example above, 000001d7.
            • Open the mailbox.xml file in an editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++ (recommended); the file will be located in the medtadata folder, such as N:engSupport Archivemedia-01_metadatamailbox.xml.
            • Search for the folder name, 000001d7 within the mailbox.xml file. Once the location is found in the XML, you will see the target folder’s context within the mailbox folder hierarchy.

I realize this not efficient but I hope it helps achieve what you need.

            Kind Regards,
