      Hello support,

      We are preparing for GroupWise upgrade (2012 to 2014) and in order to upgrade formative (2.6 to 2.7), I ran the formativcreator.exe, and after that all the existing applets disappeared from my formativ studio. What did I do wrong? How to get the applets back?

        Hi Cheryl,

        Thank you for your question. Do you mean that you installed Formativ Creator 2.7 on a machine which had Formativ Studio 2.6? If so, how was Formativ Studio configured, i.e. for eDirectory Applet Library integration or via the standard local Applets folder in under Documents?

        Upgrading should never remove applets, although perhaps there was a configuration change for some reason and Formativ Creator can no longer see the applets.

        While it is not being sold nor supported in future, you can still install Formativ Studio 2.7 if your environment supports eDirectory via the Novell Client. If it was the same machine where the applets disappeared, did you try installing Formativ Studio 2.7?

        On the machine where the applets disappeared, are you able to send us the Formativ Configuration (GroupWise Help | About Formativ… | Configuration tab | Copy to clipboard) via email to support AT advansyscorp.com?

          Alright, I don’t know why I didn’t install formative studio 2.7 earlier. Now after installing it, everything is back. Thanks for the help.

            Hi Cheryl,

            It’s fair enough that you didn’t install it initially because the installation of Formativ Creator should not make your applets disappear. Formativ Creator supports both Flexalocked and open source applets, although we suspect it may have to do with a setting related to eDirectory applet libraries.

            Are you able to send a copy of your working Formativ Studio 2.7 configuration information to support AT advansyscorp.com for review?

              Dear Support,

              I work with Cheryl, and I would like to continue this thread, because the same problem still exist in our environment.

              I’m especially interested in resolving this with the changed licensing. We used to have 5 Studio licenses and 5 Creator licenses, which were automatically changed into 10 Creator licenses and one legacy Studio license for 2.7.

              This would be fine, if Creator would be able to do the same as Studio, but as of right now, it cannot. Creator comes up blank for the same applets that show up in Studio – without any change on the eDirectory end.

              To produce the issue we simply have to remove Studio, install Creator, and the applets do not show. Remove Creator, reinstall Studio, everything is back. Again, no change of eDir between the two installations.

              We -don’t- have to resolve this if it’s too complicated, but then I would like our licenses to change from 10 Creator to 10 Studio.

                  Hello,

                  As far as licensing is concerned, the key code provided for Formativ Studio 2.7 can be used for up to 5 workstations, that is no problem at all, particularly if it is meeting your operational requirements.

                  Could you please let us know if Formativ 2.7 resolves your applet access problem.
