      Hi folks,

I’m not sure if anyone else has run into this, but I downloaded the latest 1.6 modules and installed the Admin, Business Solutions, and then the Developer application. After that I couldn’t see the eDirectory Applet library I had created in 1.5. I re-installed the 1.6 Admin piece and everything’s back to “normal” again.

Do you mean you installed Formativ Admin and Developer on the same machine, and then could not see the eDirectory Library you created? Developer does not ‘see’ eDirectory libraries as such – only Admin. Admin and Developer cannot co-exist on the same machine. The most recently installed product will overwrite the previous one.

Ahhhh….OK, I finally saw the obsure <grin> mention of installing the Admin _or_ Developer in the User’s Guide. Is this something you’ll be fixing in the future?

As Admin is a superset of Developer (i.e: they both let you develop and execute applets, but Admin included eDirectory management support), the original design didn’t consider the possibility that a user would want to have both builds installed on the same machine.

How important is it to for you to be able to install both Admin and Developer builds on the same computer?

(sorry about the delay – we’ve been fighting some viruses on this end…)

I guess my inclination is to have as much of the functionality available under a single profile as possible – otherwise I find you just spend lots of time switching back and forth between admin and developer profiles.

It would be nice if you could define which Formative “profile” you wanted to use (Runtime / Admin / Developer) in the startup dialog.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll add this to our enhancement database.
