We are able to successfully backup a user’s mailbox only when we de-select the option to include personal address books. If we choose this option, the backup always fails with an error stating The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. This only happens with a particular user. Any ideas?

        Thank you for your enquiry.

Each Contact from a personal address book is stored by Archive To Go as a file with the same name as the Contact. It is possible that a Contact filename contains an illegal character for the target backup media (but not for Windows).

To help clarify the problem, please answer the following questions/requests:

        • Does the error dialog identify the specific item (eg. file) that causes the error? If so, please indicate the name of the item; it may be useful to post (or email, see below) a screenshot of this dialog.
        • What kind of media are you attempting to use for this backup, and what software?
        • Please email the export log file (from the archive root directory) to support@advansyscorp.com
        • Please zip the directory “_metadata” from the archive directory “media-01” and email the zipfile to support@advansyscorp.com

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

        Regards,
        Advansys Support
