I created a search folder that displays mail inbox items older than 30 days. Is there any way with Formativ to distribute this to ALL my clinet mailboxes? Or is there any way to create a folder on ALL client mailboxes with these parameters (Received and older than 30 days) usinf Formativ.

Formativ do not support to distribute a search folder. However, you can use Formativ to create a Query folder and run the applet to all your client mailboxes. See the Query object in GroupWise Object API documentation for more information.

I have to admit, I do not know much about the ObjectAPI. I’m having a hard time understanding the difference between a search folder and a query folder.

Hi again … another quick question. A Find results folder … is it considered a search folder or a query folder?

Can the query folder do what we want … which is list items older than 30 days in it?

In Object API, search result folder consider as query folder. We think, query folder should do your job as listed above.

                That’s good news … thanks!

Another question on this topic. Do you folks develop applets for your Formativ users? We have development people that could possibly do this, but I wanna keep my options open.

My questions is this … we want to rid ourselves of the “archiving after 30 days” feature in GroupWise. We want to go to Auto-Delete after 6 MONTHS (a scheduled nightly job on the POA). BUT, we’re looking at having a pop-up box come up when they open GW in the morning saying something like, “You have xx number of emails that are older than 6 months. Please action them or they will be deleted this evening.”

Is something like this possible? If so, will it slow the GW client down? I’m presuming an applet can be developed to scan the client mailbox for items older than 6 months and display this message?

Thanks again for your responses …

Usually searching messages slows down GroupWise but in your case this should not impact performance significantly. Your search syntax should be straight forward, which is to search GroupWise for messages older then 6 months and you only need to search once when GW starts.

Due to our busy product development schedule, we don’t have custom programming resources available. However, an alternative is to contact one of our development partners: http://www.advansyscorp.com/formativ_partners_developers.htm.
