      Hello,

Using GW 7.01 and inserting fields like First Name or Last Name seems not working inside html code. I get in sended mail using HTML view “First Name” “Last Name” not converted…

In the plain alternative text, it works well, the fields are well converted.

      Any idea?

      Thanks for help

      Kind regards

      Philippe

Could you please provide us the build date of the GroupWise client, you can obtain the build date by selecting Help | About GroupWise.

It may not be related to your problem. We have reported the following issue to Novell about the latest GroupWise 7.0.1 client (15/11/2006 build). Novell also informed that there are large number of commands affected (forward, reply, view, send, etc) in this beta version.

          hello,

as far as I tested it, it seems that the problem happens “only” when using as template a stationary message, containing the fields to be completed or in which you add the fields with the inserter and sending it with the emailer applet. Even if you create a very simple stationary with only 1 or 2 fields to fill using the included editor and send it with emailer, you receive unfilled fields.

But if you re”use” the template file saved in the work in progress folder during the applet run and relaunch the emailer applet, it works: fields are well filled !!!

Or if you create a new mail from scratch, insert fields and send it, then fields are also correctly filled !!!!

          Kind regards

          Thanks for help

Please make sure the stationery not created using MS Word. We strongly recommend against using Microsoft Word as your HTML editor. When a Word document is saved as HTML, Word includes HTML codes which make the HTML file incompatible with a GroupWise HTML message.

If the problem persists, please email the Formativ configuration and the stationery to support@advansyscorp.com. You can obtain the configuration by selecting Help – About Formativ… from the GroupWise main menu. When the About Formativ dialog appears, go to the Configuration tab and click the button Copy to clipboard.

              Hello,

I am not using any external editor, just the one embedded in the stationery dialog… Even just making a stationery with only one field as message doesn’t work…

Well, I’ll make some more tests and send the stationery samples with config and printscreens…

              Kind regards

              Philippe

                Hello,

I sent it yesterday as requested…

Curiously, if you save in html your email, displaying unfilled fields, from GW client, then on the html exported page, the fields are filled…

You will see samples in my email…

                Kind regards

                Philippe

Our engineer able to re-produce the behaviour when uses the Stationery solution to create the email template to use in Personalized Emailer. GroupWise uses base64 encoding to the plain text and html contents in the Mime.822 file when the Stationery solution used to create the template. Personalized Emailer unable to process the emailer fields because of the base64 encoding. We have seen this behaviour during GroupWise 7 beta period and reported to Novell. Novell fixed this issue last year but unfortunately this behaviour still present when a Token API used.

We have reported this behaviour to Novell and get back to you about any progress.

                      Regards,

Novell has informed us that their engineer will investigate this behaviour within few weeks. We will post any update in this thread.
