This worked fine during evaluation. Now that I’ve registered, when I try to use finder, the program first told me finder was not found in the _viewer folder. So I copied it there. Now it gives me a long error message “there are some problems when trying to use Finder… could not load file or assembly Infralution.Controls.VirtualTree…” with an Abort, Retry, Ignore. Selecting ignore produces a crash with the following:

      Description:
      Stopped working

      Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
      Problem Signature 01: a2gofinder.exe
      Problem Signature 02: 3.0.0.0
      Problem Signature 03: 5629a381
      Problem Signature 04: a2gofinder
      Problem Signature 05: 3.0.0.0
      Problem Signature 06: 5629a381
      Problem Signature 07: 76
      Problem Signature 08: d
      Problem Signature 09: System.IO.FileNotFoundException
      OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
      Locale ID: 7177

This is very frustrating. I’d appreciate any assistance.

      Kind regards,
      Grant

Hi Grant, thank you for your post and sorry to hear about the frustrating problem. This is an unusual issue which appears to be related to the _viewer folder support files not being copied across correctly during archive creation, indicating that the archive process may not have completed successfully. Finder relies on a range of files to support the main program, a2gofinder.exe and this is likely why you are seeing this error after copying only this file.

The key to solving this issue is to identify what went wrong during the creation process, which can sometimes be related to GroupWise data corruption issues. Can you please send your archive log, which can be found in the top level folder of the archive, to support(AT)advansyscorp.com and after reviewing we will correspond with you about it by direct email.

While the log file may reveal the clue needed to isolate the cause, it would be useful to know in your email to support what actions you took after registering, for example, as the trial is limited to 10 items per folder, did you create a new archive?

Were there any messages showing on the Wizard completion page when it completed?

        Kind Regards,

        Advansys Support

          Hi Advansys Support

Many thanks for your very prompt response. Your answer has helped me to some extent. I think one of the issues is that my organisation uses McAfee protection, and I see from the logs McAfee has complained about the Advansys autorun.inf file and blocked it.

I’ve downloaded the Archive to Go 4.0 beta, and am busy running a few tests with that. I’ll know more after that, I think, as it installs from a .msi file which McAfee will feel safer about.

There were messages on the Wizard page when it completed, but I don’t feel that in itself ought to be a reason why a multi-gigabyte GroupWise archive should fail to index. The archive was built well enough even though the log shows some errors and warnings – I would expect the index engine to index what it can under those circumstances.

Anyhow, I’ll post an update here after 4.0 completes. It’s a big archive, and took about 8 hours using 3.1

          Kind regards,
          Grant

              Hi

I’m happy to provide positive feedback – Archive to Go 4.0 exported my GroupWise emails successfully. It did display warning messages, too, and said one message was not indexed but my archive is searchable and my emails are viewable.

              Thanks, and kind regards,
              Grant
