I’m trying to run Archive2Go (1.5.0.3) against a GroupWise 7 client. When I click the toolbar button, I get a spash screen and nothing else. I have to end task to stop the process. I get no other error message.

        Thanks for reporting this problem.

Have you upgraded Archive To Go recently from another version? If so, have you restarted the machine after installation?

In any case, as a first step I suggest that you restart the machine. You may see an error during the shutdown process, with “csc.exe” in the title.

Please let me know how you go.

This is not an upgrade. I tried to launch this again this morning after booting my machine. Again, I get a splash screen then nothing. When I went to restart my system, I got a CSC.exe error: App failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Behind that I had the ‘Not Responding’ dialog. Behind that I had a large dialog with the title of Archive To Go.

            Thanks for the additional information.

This is the first external report of the “CSC.exe” error. The reason I asked about an upgrade is because we have seen this error during testing, usually after replacing the Creator executable by a newer/older version. This executable is a2goengine.exe.

Technically, the problem seems to be that ‘just in time’ (JIT) compilation of a2goengine.exe by the Microsoft Framework for .NET is failing. This may be due to a conflict between the executed file and a previously-cached copy of another version.

The only workaround we know of is to restart the machine, which has always fixed the problem.

If this does not help, you could try reinstalling Archive To Go; it may be best to uninstall manually beforehand (use Add or Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel).

Finally, it’s possible that your Archive To Go settings have become corrupted (especially if you’ve had to reset your machine while Creator was running). You can also try the following:

            • Rename the folder:
              C:Documents and Settings[Windows Username]Application DataAdvansysArchive To Go

              to something else, like:

              C:Documents and Settings[Windows Username]Application DataAdvansysArchive To Go.bak

              .
This folder contains the configuration files for Archive To Go.

            • Start Creator. Note that you may need to reconfigure certain settings, eg. for Enterprise Access.

Please let me know how you go.

I decided the easiest thing to do was to install the software on a different machine. This worked and I was able to make an archive of the user’s mailbox.

I am having the same problem and have been for some time…today there is not the option of just installing on another machine as I need to collect emails for legal. I have done all the above: uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, changed the name of the folder in app data. There’s no visible error, the splash screen just sits; however, when I restart there is a list of files in error, but they don’t stay up, I see “framework” I really need a quick solution to this as we are in discovery…

Actually, when I click on the ATG.exe the splach screen pops up, then the program closes. If I click it again, the splash screen sticks with no error messages…again on reboot then i get the csc.exe error 0x0000142 and a pz0odkc2.dll error with a list of system.io, system.code, system.xml, and system.windows.form errors. I really need help now!

Well, it doesn’t look like this forum is moderated…I had to unarchive all his emails (5 years worth) and run ATG from another machine…it took all day to unarchive. Is there another way to get support for this product?!?

I’m sorry to hear of this frustrating experience for you. Actually this forum is moderated though usually not on a weekend (your original post was on Friday 10:53pm local time for us in Sydney, Australia). The alternative to this forum is to write directly to support@advansyscorp.com, however once again our support staff usually do not work on a weekend.

I’m curious about this. If the emails were in a GroupWise native/personal archive, why not simply copy the archive to another machine and run ATG against the copy? With ATG Creator you can select the default and/or secondary native archive, and opt to exclude the main account (if you only want to export the native archive).

Unfortunately we do not yet know of a foolproof workaround for this problem, other than the options mentioned in earlier posts. It may help to reinstall/update the Microsoft Framework for .NET.

Additional information may assist our engineers to prevent the problem; please provide the following:

                        • Your installed version of ATG.
                        • Your installed version of Microsoft Framework for .NET.

                        Regards,

I have one machine dedicated to ATG; archiving from another machine is not the answer…I must archive another account today and still have the same problem. .Net is 3 and I’d have to be able to open ATG to give the exact version, but Control Panel says 1.5. I believe I started having problems with this when I trialed and Advansys email merge and then uninstalled after the trial period.

                            Thanks for the additional information.

The current release build of Archive To Go is 1.5.0.3. Its Readme and user guide state that it requires version 1.1 or above of the Microsoft Framework for .NET. I suggest installing 1.1 before trying again.

Are you referring to the Personalized Emailer solution for Advansys Formativ?

I look forward to your reply.

Do I need Advansys Formitive to run Archive To Go? If so, the uninstall of the trial for Personal eMail corrupted Formativ…it still shows in add/remove, but it errors on run. Well, I tried this and it still won’t launch, flash screen comes up and disappears, later on reboot I’ll see the errors. I really need to resolve this. I downloaded MS Installer clean up and even that didn’t help. Please give me something to try!

No, to run Archive To Go you do not need Advansys Formativ 2.0, which is required for the Personalized Emailer. Formativ 2.0 is a completely separate product.

Which language is selected for non-Unicode programs on your machine? You can find out by opening Regional and Language Options in the Windows Control Panel. Go to the Advanced tab, where you’ll see the selected language in the upper area.

If the language is other than English (United States) try changing it temporarily to see if it makes a difference.

English is chosen, changed it to Zimbabwe and that made no difference. I really need to request an engineer’s assistance…surely, since this is dedicated ATG machine, it shouldn’t have to be reformatted…there has to be something concrete to fix this.
