      Hello,

We are trying the current version of Presentation pack. We are having an issue when sending email to people using MS Outlook. When we use the Stationary app the embedded images arrive as attachments. When we use the Remote Image app the images don’t arrive at all. (No attachment, just a big empty space.) On internal GroupWise accounts and web based email ie Hotmail, AOL and various web access email systems everything works great. Any sugestions?
We’re using GroupWise 7, GWIA version 7.0.1 and client version 7.0

      Thank you!

As you can view the embedded image in GroupWise, other web based email but not in Outlook client which appear the issue is relate to Outlook client settings.

Remote Image inserter solution use a special technique by adding image as background which lets the image not to add as attachments to the message. You can view the sent message source in GroupWise client to get more information.

You can try the following Outlook settings to enable message background images.

        quote:

The Outlook client’s (2003 and 2007) automatic download settings block pictures in HTML messages. If the HTML message contains background images then Outlook client will not display these images unless you turn off “Don’t download pictures or other content automatically in HTML e-mail” checkbox.

In Outlook 2003, see the Tools – Options – Security – “Change Automatic Download settings” for more information.

In Outlook 2007, click Tools, then Trust Center to open the Trust Center. In the left Trust Center pane, click Automatic download.

See the article for more information: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP073107391033.aspx

Hope this helps. Please let us know how you go.

Thank you. That was the problem. However it leads me to another question. Is there a way to actually embed a .jpg or .gif in a GroupWise email so even if someone has the settings enabled they will still be able to see the images? (I know this will make for a huge email and therefore create a different set of problems, but it’s the first question the “powers that be” will ask me.)

          Thanks again.

You can add the local or remote image to a GroupWise message. If you add a local image then image will be added as attachment to the GroupWise message. However, if you add remote image then the image will not be added as attachment but will require internet access and any settings (i.e. Outlook automatic download image options) to view the image.

You can update the Stationery source to change the image location. For example, you can update the sample “Flight Itinerary” which comes with the Stationery solution to change its image location from remote to a local image. The code below use the same image but a local copy:

                  <TABLE height=400 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=597 align=center bgColor=#0f4378
                     background="c:tempFlight_Itinerary_i01.jpg" border=0>

We suggests to use HTML editor (not MS Word) or Notepad to update the stationery.

              Hello,

Just an FYI – The solution was to update our GWIA to 7.0.3.

              Thanks for the help.
