We are currently deploying Presentation Pack 2.0. In order not to be prompted with the message to download activex core and activex ndap each time I launch any PresPack component, I downloaded the Novell ActiveX SDK, performed a manual install on my workstation and ran the regocx.bat to register the sdk. It works fine for me. Do I have to load the SDK on every user’s workstation to disable that prompt from coming up (which I can’t seem to make a silent install)? This will involve updating different jvm versions, and I’m not eager to do this on all workstations. If a user does not have the SDK, and manually checks the box not to display the activex download page, will stationery or signatures I create using eDir variables work for them?

I guess what I’m asking is: does every user need to have the SDK loaded in order to gain the ability to use forms that may call an eDirectory variable? I was thinking it would be great to create one signature for the firm that calls user name, extension, email, etc from eDir variables instead of having to create a separate signature for each user.

        Thank you for your enquiry.

In stationery or signatures that include eDir variables, the variables are known as SmartFields.

To answer your specific question: any user who requires “forms that may call an eDirectory variable” will need to install the Core and NDAP ActiveX controls.

The ActiveX controls are required for eDirectory SmartFields; these controls are not required for Account or AddressBook SmartFields.

        I hope this helps.
