      Hello world!

Since we have updated our GroupWise clients to Version 7 IR1 we are seeing the following problem with Formativ:

We have an applet that is linked to the (before) OnSend event of a mail message.

If I create a new mail message and then click ‘Send’ the applet gets started.
If I reply to an existing mail message and then click ‘Send’ the applet does NOT get started.

The problem is independent of the applet (I have tried with a simple test-applet, the before-send event simply does not get captured).

      Any ideas?

We are using GroupWise 7.0.1 (14/12/2006) and unable to re-produce the same issue. We was told by the Novell that GroupWise 7 IR1 (prior to 14/12/2006 build) had some bugs in relation to the OnOpen and some other events. We recommend you to upgrade the GroupWise client to the latest release.

        Regards,
        Advansys Support

          Hi!

You are correct – the latest GroupWise from Dec. 14th does fix the issue.

          Thanks

          Stephan

              Hi!

Unfortunately I have to comeback with another issue:

With the latest GrpWise.exe (14. Dec) we can no longer open messages from shared folders – GrpWise just closes.

There is a problem with formativ and the following registry keys:
              HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENovellGroupWise5.0C3PODataTypesGW.MESSAGE.MAILAdvansys.formativEvents
(I believe with other message types the problem persists)

If remove the key ‘…Advansys.formativEventsGW#C#OPEN and restart GroupWise the issue is gone for this session. Unfortunately this key gets recreated automatically and the problem is back on the next start.

Please note: The problem exists also if a user has local admin rights.

One time we have seen the following error message:
‘Exception: Access violation at address 02BAA1BA in module ‘formativ.dll’. Read of address 00000004, Context: GW.MESSAGE.MAIL Persist ID: GW#C#OPEN’

              Stephan

                Thanks for the heads up.

We can re-produce this issue without Formativ install because of the following Hummingbird Integration registry key in the test machine.

                “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENovellGroupWise5.0C3PODataTypesGW.MESSAGE.MAILEMIGws.C3POServerEventsGW#C#OPEN”.

This issue disappear after deleting the above key. We have contacted Novell today and get back to you once we hear more information.

                Advansys Support

Thanks for your feedback. Novell’s engineer able duplicate the problem and created defect #236769 to CPR. Novell also informed us, this behaviour only appears if UserA shares the folder with UserB, then if UserA opens the message in the shared folder there is no problem, GroupWise crash if UserB opens the message.

We will post any update to this thread.

                    Regards,
