I have just downloaded the Message Saver Pack for GW to evaluate this for our company.
General operation seems simple and the viewer gives a better view of the data than GW itself.
Just one problem – the option in the manual to save a whole folder doesn’t seem to work – if you select a folder it just saves the first message in that folder.

I am using the 1.6 runtime, the V1.2 Beta Message pack and Groupwise client V6.5

Thank you for your enquiry, and for feedback – always valuable!

This problem with saving a folder is to do with automatic selection of a message list item in GroupWise. While you clearly have a folder selected, you will also have one message selected by default. Message Saver gives priority to the selected message(s) over the folder.

At present I know of two ways around this:

        • Save the folder. Deselect the first message – either:
          a) click the item with the mouse while holding down CTRL, or
          b) press CRTL+SPACE
        • Save all messages. Select all messages in the list – either:
          a) press CTRL+A, or
          b) scroll to the end of the list, then click the last item while holding down SHIFT (for some reason this is much faster than (a) when there are many items).

Then start Message Saver as usual.

        I hope this helps you.

          Thanks
The first option, deselecting the message works fine.

              Hello,
What’s the best way to archive nested folders? Under my Cabinet, I have folders representing ‘Project Numbers’ and within every Project Numbers I have SubFolders for Consultants, Client Folder,….. etc. When the Project is completed, I have to go through a tedious process of recreating a directory structure (that’s identical to the Project folder/tree, usually 6to8 folders deep) and manually selecting all messages on every folder … takes me several hours to archive 1 project folder. Is there an easy way around this limitation? It would be nice to just select a parent folder (with an option to select subfolders) and it would save everything within that (sub)folder.

Unfortunately the short answer is there is no way of doing nested folders with the current version of Message Saver. While the following suggestion will not help to replicate the project folder structure, you can use a Find (QuickFinder) to dislay all items within the project folders, select all items in the Find Results listing, and then save them to a single disk folder.

We have recently released Advansys Archive To Go – Mailbox Exporter for GroupWise. This solution exports a full GroupWise mailbox to disk (FML format) and preserves the complete GroupWise folder structure as a portable archive. A future release will include the capability to select only the folders you wish to export, thus providing the capability to create a portable archive of a complete or partial mailbox.

Thank you for your feedback and we will include your requirements when reviewing our future product plans.

                Regards,
