ADO is Microsoft® ActiveX® Data Objects. An ADO data source enables you to specify any ADO-compatible database as a data source. Many third-party databases can be accessed via ADO, including Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle and Paradox. Consult your database documentation for details.
