A customer reported Formativ would not load on several computers in the organization. No Formativ menu items, toolbar buttons, etc appeared in the GroupWise client.
Investigations revealed no other C3PO products would load into GroupWise as well.
An entire GroupWise program folder from a PC where Formativ was running was copied to a PC where Formativ would not load. On restarting GroupWise, Formativ would load.
The customer compared the contents of the two GroupWise folders and found that quite a few files were different. Specifically, GWDT31.DLL (the C3PO loader) on the original installation was dated 13/10/98 and was 99k in size. From the installation where Formativ loaded it was dated 11/09/00 and was 112K in size. The customer suspected the GroupWise Service Pack 5 install did not update the GroupWise installation directory correctly, and although the version number displayed by GroupWise was 5.5.5, in actual fact a lot of the files were not at SP5 at all.
Older PCs with GroupWise pre-5.5.5 installed, then updated using the service pack loaded Formativ fine. Newer PCs with GroupWise installed from the 'updated' installation point were not loading Formativ, or indeed, any C3PO at all.
We have now re-run the SP5 update on our GroupWise installation point and all seems well.
