How do I add items to GroupWise menus?
Formativ lets you add any number of menu items to most top level menus in the GroupWise client. For each menu item you define, Formativ lets you supply the text that appears on the menu and the hint text that appears when you hold the mouse pointer over the menu item in the client.
As with all integrations, menu integrations are context based. This means you can assign a menu item to appear within one or more GroupWise contexts. To define where the menu item should appear, select the Integrations tab within the Formativ IDE and select the context you wish to define the menu item.
For example, suppose you would like to add the menu item to the GroupWise main menu under the File menu option.
- Formativ 2.0 and later: In the context list, locate the 'GroupWise Main Window' entry, then click the ellipsis (...) button in the Menus column - the Menus dialog will appear. Menu items are displayed in groups, where each group corresponds to the menu these items belong to. For each item there are two check boxes, representing before and after the item. First locate the 'File' menu group, then find a menu item (e.g. 'New') that will act as an anchor for your new item. Check the lower box so that your new item will appear immediately after 'New' on the 'File' menu. Click the cross button at the bottom of the dialog to save this integration.
- Formativ 1.6 and earlier: Double click the 'GroupWise Main Window' context, then double click the 'Menus' category. Double click the menus option to expand all the top level menu items with the context. Locate the 'File' menu item, then double click it to show all the menu items under the 'File' menu. Select the a menu item to act as an 'anchor', and press the right-mouse button. A menu appears that lets you add your new menu item either before or after the current item.
The next time you start the GroupWise client, a menu item will appear on the GroupWise 'File' menu that executes your applet when selected.
You can define any number of menu items that execute a single applet. For example, if you would also like to have the same menu item as described above appear on the Mail view toolbar, select the 'Mail' context, then follow the same directions as shown above. The GroupWise client will now have two menu items that execute the same applet. One will appear on the main menu, another will appear on the Mail view menu.
