How do I add buttons to GroupWise toolbars?

Formativ lets you add any number of buttons to most toolbars in the GroupWise client. For each button you define, Formativ lets you supply the text that appears on the button, the hint text that appears when you hold the mouse pointer over the button, and an image for the button.

As with all integrations, defining a button is context based. This means you can assign a button to appear with one or more GroupWise contexts. To define where the button should appear, select the Integrations tab within the Formativ IDE. For example, suppose you wish to add the button to the GroupWise main toolbar.

  • Formativ 2.0 and later: In the list of contexts, find the 'GroupWise Main Window' entry. Place a check mark in the Toolbar column for this entry. This means you wish to add a button to the main GroupWise toolbar.

  • Formativ 1.6 and earlier: Select the context you wish to define the button within. Double click the 'GroupWise Main Window' context, then double click the 'Toolbars' category. There is only one toolbar on the main menu, so check the 'Main' option.

The next time you start the GroupWise client, a button will appear on the main toolbar with the image, caption and help hint you defined. Clicking the button will execute the applet.

You can define any number of buttons that execute a single applet. For example, if you would like to have the same button as above appear on the email dialog toolbar, apply the above directions to the 'Mail' context. The GroupWise client will now have two new buttons that execute the same applet. One will appear on the main menu, another will appear on the email view dialog.
