LinkWise R380 - ACT! Edition

Basic Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting First Steps

LinkWise R380 - ACT! Edition is only one of the essential components in the integrated synchronization solution. As a result, one of the most important steps in the troubleshooting process is to attempt to isolate the source of a problem. The earlier this determination is made, the faster you are likely to find the cause of the problem.

Some elementary steps to check:

  • Can you make a reliable connection between your PC and smartphone? See your Ericsson documentation.
  • Are you familiar with the telephone formatting requirements imposed by ACT! and the Ericsson synchronization engine? See the LinkWise R380 help file for details.
  • Have you tried using the synchronizer's Wizard to create a new set of synchronization task settings? Using the Wizard deletes any existing synchronization settings and allows you to start again from scratch (as if you were doing a first time synchronization).
  • Are you using the most recent versions of LinkWise R380 and the Ericsson Communications Suite software? Check www.ericsson.com for updates.
  • Are you working with the same ACT! database specified in the ACT! Database settings dialog?
  • Do you understand how LinkWise R380 handles deletion of ACT! Contacts? See the LinkWise R380 help file for details.
  • Is your ACT! database free of corruption? Synchronization problems can occur if LinkWise R380 has trouble reading information from your database. You should run a maintenance/reindex process on your ACT! database - see your ACT! documentation.
  • Have you read the 'LinkWise R380 - ACT! Edition Readme.txt' file, which is located in your Ericsson Communications Suite folder? (Normally C:\Program Files\Ericsson\R380).
  • Check the Advansys web site www.advansyscorp.com for any updates and FAQ articles that may solve your problem.
